Lucky Gunasekara

Vulcan Labs
CEO
San Francisco, CA
Q: What are you passionate about?

A: Applying networks, crowds and markets for social impact

My Bio:

As a child, Lucky believed that geeks would one day save the world. He also believed that the world of Tron was real (he was 5). While the latter turned out sadly not to be true, nudging the former incrementally closer to the truth has become the focus of his life's work. As the co-founder of San Francisco-based Vulcan Labs, Lucky and his merry band of misfit designers, engineers, and scientists work with organizations looking to push the limits of data, design, and technology to new heights for real social impact. Lucky has a BA in Neurobiology and Behavior, and was a Fulbright Fellow in Japan studying the social contagion of child abuse. He ended his overachieving hot streak by dropping out of Stanford Med to co-found FrontlineSMS:Medic and to serve as the first CIO of the Global Viral Forecasting Initiative. He lives in Oakland with his wife Cathrine and their puppy with a penchant for eating furniture, Miso.
