Bud is relatively new to the DC region, having moved here about almost 18 months ago to join AOL as SVP/GM of its Paid Services division, and is the co-founder of Fishbowl Labs, a community of startups on the Dulles, VA campus of AOL. The Paid Services division consists of a variety of subscription and advertising driven businesses that collectively deliver over $1 billion in revenue for AOL.
Prior to joining AOL, Bud has held leadership roles at both public tech companies (Yahoo & RealNetworks) and served as a co-founder and/or CEO of several early-stage, venture-backed companies (TurnHere, Bigstep, WorkMetro), which collectively raised $100M+ of top-tier venture capital backing. He was also fortunate to spend a year as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Charles River Ventures, a $2B early stage venture firm, and is an active angel investor. He lives with his wife and 2 kids in Great Falls, VA and is rapidly jumping on the Washington Capitals bandwagon.
Bud also serves on the advisory board of several national non-profits and technology startups. He earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in International Relations from Bates College.
