Rob is a founding partner at Razor’s Edge Ventures; an early stage private equity fund focused on technologies and businesses that deliver direct, meaningful impact to the defense and intelligence community. Rob actively advises early-stage, venture-backed companies in Silicon Valley, the Rocky Mountain Region, and the Mid-Atlantic. Rob serves of the Board of Directors for Mersive Technologies and Nexenta. Prior to joining Razor’s, Rob was the Chief Technology Evangelist for Google Federal. Rob was also a Product Manager for Google supporting humanitarian assistance and disaster response activities globally for Google’s Geo product development division. While in these roles he was responsible for evangelizing Google’s suite of enterprise products across all government sectors as well as all aspects surrounding the build and deployment of those products to meet the complex needs of government and non-traditional users worldwide.

Prior to joining Google, Rob was the Director of Technology Assessment at In-Q-Tel, the strategic private equity firm of the US Intelligence Community. Rob’s transaction history includes leading several investments most notably Keyhole, now Google Earth, and @Last Software, now Google SketchUp. Rob's work history includes several senior advisory roles supporting strategic, tactical, and operational objectives within numerous federal government, defense, and law enforcement organizations. He has held senior leadership roles at Northrop-Grumman, Lockheed-Martin, Harris Corporation, and Ohio University. Rob's entrepreneurial experience includes launching Encompass Technologies, Inc., a K through 12 desktop mapping company created to infuse geography into the classroom which he later exited to a public company.

Rob completed undergraduate work in Environmental Geography and Philosophy with honors from Ohio University and completed graduate work at Ohio University in Geography and Artificial Intelligence and at George Washington University in Engineering Management and Leadership. Rob served in the Army as a detachment commander supporting the US Special Operations community.
