Social media is creating exciting new opportunities for government agencies to collaborate, engage with the public, gather useful data, and achieve their missions more efficiently and effectively.   Featuring leading experts from on social media in the public sector, this panel will present a wide-ranging discussion including: examples of how government agencies are using social media, emerging opportunities for social data to inform agencies’ missions, evolving opportunities for social media to inform policymaking and drive change in government, the future of collaborative government – what to look for in the years to come, and the key areas the new administration should focus on to advance social government in the next four years.  

Panelists will include Justin Herman, Social Media Evangelist at GSA’s Office of Citizen Services & Innovative Technologies, Steve Ressler, founder of GovLoop, Scott Horvath, Web & Social Media Chief at USGS, and Brandon Friedman, Vice President, Fleishman-Hillard (Former Director, Online Communications at Department of Veterans Affairs).
