In celebration of DC Digital Capitol Week, the Washington DC Comedy Writers Group will dedicated the evening to creating material about technology. You don't have to be a comedy writer to join in on the fun. If you enjoy laughter, this is the event for you. About the Washington DC Comedy Writers: Wayne Manigo and Mandy Dalton started the group back in January 2011 to have a fun, face to face, uncensored, safe place to generate material without the competitive crap that can sometimes happen at ‘the back of the room’. Wayne and Mandy also wanted to mix up all forms of comedy in DC and include not only stand-up, but also bloggers, videographers, speechwriters, improv actors, and yes, even clowns. The Washington DC Comedy Writers Group offers a place that is neutral ground for political views. We want to encourage all forms of satire on any part of the political spectrum. You can only take comedy so far, but then you need an audience. Sometimes it helps if that audience knows the hard work you put into it. That’s what you find with the Washington DC Comedy Writers’ Group. This group brings people together who think about comedy. Many members are stand-ups but we also welcome anyone who uses humor regularly. We do some exercises, but we go off on tangents, chase unrelated topics, and indulge in hyperactive behavior. Think of it as a weekly party/happy hour, with a few games, and a lot of loud, crazy people. We recommend that you join our group on Facebook if you think this is right for you. Facebook is where we are most active and have the most up to date information. You don’t need to live in the District. Hell, you can live in Nigeria, as long as you don’t ask us to make a wire transfer. You can also find us on Twitter, @dccomedywriters.
