DT:DC is a design thinking meetup in DC that is 700 members strong! We have heard from many members of the DT:DC community that you would like to have the opportunity to be involved in design challenges that extend beyond our usual 2-hour meetup timeframe. What better way to create design challenges that inspire the DT:DC community than to have you develop them using design thinking skills and methods. This session will explore the steps and tools in defining a problem and creating and refining a design challenge. Creating a good design challenge can be one of the more difficult elements of design thinking – especially if you aren’t solving the right problem. We will break into teams and use a design thinking process to guide each team through developing a design challenge for DT:DC. The output of this session will be a set of design challenges designed by the DT:DC community that we will then implement over the coming months. Our hope is to create design challenges that solve real issues in the DC community. Start thinking about problems that you believe might benefit from a design thinking approach and bring those ideas with you to the session. They will be great input into designing challenges that inspire us. If you have a specific organization in mind that you would like us to consider for a design challenge please let us know. We are interested in organizations that are open to collaborating with DT:DC to help solve the issues they are facing.
